Anticipation Maps
In 2017, as part of our work in the "Reimagining Childhood Project", we looked closely at how to document the learning that we expected to occur through play-based learning, realising that the traditional "Term Overview" wasn't flexible and fluid enough to accurately reflect what was happening in the classroom. Colleagues from another site talked about using an Anticipation Map, that allowed them to document what they expected to cover but allowed for flexibility in how it was delivered or achieved. We anticipate that this learning will occur in a wide variety of ways and will endeavour to steer the children in these directions but are mindful of the fact that other wonderful learning will happen in ways that we can't begin to anticipate.
